Business Event Lyon – Mediterranean Rhône-Saône Axis: A Strategic Corridor for Logistics Performance

On Friday, September 26, the Union Maritime et Fluviale Marseille-Fos (UMF), represented by its President Martin Feraud, had the honor of participating in the event organized by the Port of Marseille Fos at the InterContinental Lyon – Hôtel Dieu.

This gathering, held under the authority of Prefect Fabienne Buccio, brought together leading stakeholders from freight transport, logistics, and territorial planning around a shared objective: strengthening national competitiveness through the consolidation of the Mediterranean Rhône-Saône axis (MeRS).

The discussions were structured around two key roundtables:
- “The Mediterranean Rhône-Saône Axis, a Strategic Lever for National Competitiveness,” which highlighted the strategic dimension of this corridor with contributions from Laurence Borie-Bancel, Hervé Martel, Jean-Marc Thomas, and Fabien Combronde, moderated by Thomas San Marco.

- “Marseille Fos – Lyon: Connecting Territories, Streamlining Flows, and Accelerating the Logistics Transition,” a discussion introduced by Martin Feraud, featuring Marc Bourdon, Étienne Melliani, Jean-Claude Blanc, Jean-Baptiste Lumineau, and Frédérique Sperry, and moderated by Amal Louis.

In conclusion, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille-Fos, Christophe Castaner, emphasized that the success of this strategic axis relies on three essential drivers:
- port fluidity,
- the commitment of operators,
- and the deliberate choices of shippers.

It is through the collective mobilization of all stakeholders that this ambition can be realized in support of both national and European competitiveness.
