Function / Activity

The docking staff ensures all moorage and departure operations for ships that stop in a port, by attaching the ship’s hawsers to the dock’s bollards.

 

Introduction to the profession in Marseille-Fos

Mooring has a public service nature and is managed by certified private companies, without de jure monopoly.

The profession also carries out ancillary works such as: additional crew, pollution response, water body security, bay service, etc.

The docking staff consists of 80 people; 8 people take care of facilities maintenance and 5 people work in administrative services.

This profession depends on the traffic in ports.
